LYP was conceptualized in October 2008, through an online platform to provide an avenue for the young people to share opportunities existing in the different industries in the country, encourage entrepreneurial development among members and to discuss issues affecting the youth in the country.
The platform quickly grew to 2000 members in the first two months. A team of 14 passionate young professionals was then formed from the online forum participants and was called the (Dream Team) these members facilitated the development of the programs that the organization would be involved in response to the members needs. The efforts of the dream team led to the registration of a Community based organization. The LYP Kenya began operation in February 2009.
